A resilient seated gate valve, also known as an elastomer-seated gate valve, is a type of gate valve that incorporates a resilient or rubberized seat to provide a tight seal between the gate and the valve body. It combines the features of a gate valve and the resilience of elastomer materials to offer efficient shut-off and reliable sealing performance in various applications.

Design: Resilient seated gate valves have a similar design to traditional gate valves, consisting of a gate or wedge-shaped disc that moves perpendicular to the flow to control the fluid passage. However, the gate and the valve body incorporate a resilient seat made of materials like EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber), or other elastomers.

Sealing performance: The resilient seat in the gate valve provides excellent sealing capabilities, even in low-pressure or vacuum applications. When the gate is closed, the elastomer seat compresses against the gate and valve body, creating a tight seal to prevent leakage.

Bi-directional sealing: Resilient seated gate valves offer bidirectional sealing, meaning they can effectively seal in both flow directions. This allows for installation flexibility and ensures proper operation regardless of the flow direction.

Minimal leakage: The resilient seat of these valves helps minimize leakage by providing a reliable seal against the gate and the valve body. This feature is especially important in applications where leakage can be a concern, such as water supply systems.

Low operating torque: Resilient seated gate valves typically require lower operating torque compared to metal-seated gate valves. This reduces the effort needed to operate the valve and ensures smooth and easy operation.

Resilient seated gate valves are commonly used in applications where efficient shut-off, reliable sealing, and minimal leakage are important considerations. They find widespread use in water supply systems, wastewater treatment plants, irrigation systems, and various industrial processes. The combination of a gate valve’s robust construction with the resilient seating offers an effective solution for fluid control and shut-off requirements.
