Full flow capacity: Gate valves offer minimal obstruction to the flow of fluids when fully open. This characteristic makes them ideal for applications where low pressure drop and high flow capacity are required.

Bi-directional flow: Gate valves can control the flow of fluids in both directions, allowing for flexibility in installation and operation.

On-off operation: Gate valves are primarily used for isolation purposes, providing a tight seal when fully closed. They are designed for either fully open or fully closed positions, which means they are not suitable for throttling or regulating flow.

Low pressure drop: When fully open, gate valves have a very low pressure drop across the valve. This property minimizes energy loss and allows for efficient flow through the system.

Different materials: Gate valves can be made from a wide range of materials, including cast iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, and exotic alloys. The choice of material depends on the type of fluid, pressure, temperature, and the specific requirements of the application.
